One of the strangest facts about World War 2 is that the wife of the Commandant of Auschwitz Rudolf Höss, is actually buried inside of an American Cemetery. Hedwig Höss was married to the brutal war criminal for many years, but after his execution she lived a quiet life in Germany. But she regularly visited her daughter in America and during one visit died. Instead of burying her back in Germany, the family shockingly had the wife of the Auschwitz Commandant buried in a cemetery in Fairfax County Virginia.
