Reminiscent of the Baroque Loure (found in the French Suite No. 5) this lightly lilting dance movement defines the Prelude. Bach takes the idea of this dance movement and constructs it as a through composed movement, instead of the usual AB structure demarcated by repeat signs. It is truly expressive in a vaguely empfindsamerstil. The Fugue is another moto perputuo theme which proceeds along together with chromaticisms which heighten the expressive component until the very last phrase which seems to cry out to the centre of the soul.
