We set off for what was meant to be a perfect day sailing to Nara Inlet in the Whitsundays. Calm conditions, smooth sailing, and one of the most beautiful anchorages we’ve seen so far. After an easy sail, we explored the inlet, hiked to a dry waterfall, and I finally tried out my new paddleboard. It felt like one of those rare days where everything was going right. But on the way back to the tender, I slipped on an oyster-covered rock and sliced my hand and toe open. In a panic, we hit the keel on the floor, twice. Danny had to solo sail Soluna three hours back while I tried to keep it under control. We’re Sarah and Danny — an Aussie and UK couple learning to sail with very little experience, sharing the highs, lows, and reality of full-time boat life in the Whitsundays. If you enjoy real, unfiltered sailing adventures, subscribe and follow along.
