I love this song and I think it's perfect for Sparrabeth not just because of the lyrics and meaning, but also because Johnny Depp is playing guitar on the track and directed the music video! Lyrics are Jack's POV This video is basically about choices and regrets. It's set after AWE - Elizabeth chose Will and left Jack behind to get on with his life, but they miss each other. It is about how they tried to get along and be together, but they couldn't be because they betrayed each other, and even though it hurt both of them whenever they hurt each other, they just had to accept that 'sometimes it's gotta stop' and they've got to move on and just give up. Jack is cold towards Elizabeth when she treats him bad, though he can't help but treat her well when she treats him well, no matter how much she hurt him in the past. However they have gotten through everything and even though they can't forgive enough to be lovers, they are still friends, but that's all. The black and white clips are about Elizabeth's thoughts as she chains Jack to the Black Pearl - he left her for dead and betrayed her by running away, even though he did come back, but still he therefore is unlovable. Jack adds that she could try to forgive him. Jack's B&W sequence is more complicated: he is watching and remembering Elizabeth and Will, whom he thought were happy together except for the occasional glitch (their wedding not taking place), but little did he realise was that they were struggling with their relationship because of Will witnessing Elizabeth and Jack's kiss ('how can i trust you', 'you can't' scene - sorry about the lack of volume here - all the voice overs are below). It's the 'sha la la's where the action takes place: Jack and Liz are missing and remembering each other, and one day Jack decides to go after Liz - hence the crazy mesh of him going from his ship to a dingy to walking along a beach. Meanwhile, Elizabeth is at her home, thinking about Jack. She hears - or senses - something and rushes out to her balcony. There she sees the Black Pearl and runs down the stairs to meet who she hopes to still be Jack's crew. It is and Jack convinces her (quickly) to join him on his ship. The video ends with Jack constantly telling Elizabeth that 'yes, we are bad for each other, we betrayed each other, we lied, we cried, but can you really live without me? Is it really Will who you want? I've forgiven you and now to me you are 'loveable' - can I be too to you?' And then there's my Sparrabeth happy ending :D Voiceovers: 'I'm not sorry' 'How can I trust you?'
