This video is essentially unedited, except for the audio volume, so that you can watch us work on this Model A engine as if you were there in person while listening to our conversations. In this video, Bill scrapes off the water pump gasket while Joe pries off the old distributor comparing it with his rebuilt, genuine Model A distributor. Then Joe uses a spark plug thread chaser to clean up all four partially cross threaded spark plug holes. Background: Fellow members of the Sequim Valley Car Club (SVCC)bwho kindly volunteered their time and mechanical skills on the 3rd of July install replacement parts that Joe removed to diagnose the overheating issue and ultimately, replace the aftermarket radiator with the proper radiator for a 1931 Ford Model A Pickup. This replacement radiator is at least twice as heavy and is thicker and has more fins than the aftermarket radiator that Joe had removed the previous afternoon. Joe was convinced that this is why my Model A was quickly overheating and spraying coolant from the radiator through the motometer cap. Of course, Joe happened to have an original 1931 Ford Model A truck radiator on hand, as was the case with all the parts replaced. As you can see in this video, it takes at least two people to get this job done right while being careful to prevent any damage to the radiator or the fenders of the Model A.
