Unmowed and standing Purple needlegrass or Stipa pulchra straw cannot burn at the normal spacing in a native grassland, as you can see from my other video. However, when mowed that concentrates the straw, making it into a kind of grass briquette which will burn and damage the crown of the mowed plant. Standing unmowed Stipa pulchra straw looks like a fire hazard, but mowing it, the laid straw on the ground is converted to an paradoxical fire hazard. Other videos at @craigdremann5631
