It is located on the North-South axis that links the upper, aristocratic part of the city with the lower, working-class part. The park built by Jules Vacherot at Leopold II's request in the years leading up to the 1910 World's Fair vanished under the René Pechère project as Expo 58 drew closer. Parking garages in the subsurface were part of the project. The benefit of this project is that it secures a lovely view of plane trees and the spire of Brussels City Hall.
