PLANT ROOM TOUR | What tropical plants look like in the European winter 2023

I have three main areas in my plant room. In this video we will take a tour of the first area. I will give you an overview off all the plants including short care tips, what they look like now indoors in a moderate climate in February. So you can decide which one you like and would like to care for yourself. First off, let me introduce you to my favorite plant with heart shaped leaves. Anthurium clarinervium. This plant is truly one of the easiest Anthuriums for beginners. I bought it three years ago and received it in the mail with 4 leaves. It constantly blooms. I even managed to collect and germinate its seeds. Next, let's take a look at my 'Tiger'. This big guy wasn't always this big. I got him as a very small baby 3 years ago. This variegated Fern is easy to care for, but don't leave it without water for more than 2 days. It is always thirsty. It makes great hanging plant and add some color and texture to my green space. Since there are 10 varieties of dieffenbachia in my collection, I can compare them. So I am already ready to give up and give dieffenbachia Tiki in good hands. I can’t grow Aglaonema Red army at room conditions. It yellows the leaves. Instead of new dark green foliage, she gave out a flower. It's hard to believe that this plant is already 4 years old. It grows so slowly. Next to Hoya I have Rhypsalis cruciformis. I recently received it by mail at a night temperature of +2C. Therefore, it is a strong Tropical cactus, hardened by the northern sea. These plants are both great for hanging, and they can add some greenery to spaces that might not have much room for larger plants. They also make great air purifiers and are perfect for a bedroom. Under the window, I use every centimeter of valuable area illuminated by natural light. I planned to go into detail about each plant, but there are so many of them. I won't fit into 10 minutes of video, so I'll only tell you their names and habits. Stromantha Triostar dries out the tips of the leaves, but quickly overgrows with healthy foliage. Occasionally the leaves are almost green and slightly variegated, but this depends on the season. White-pink Variation always returns. The Scindapsus is an easy plant that requires little care. If left out of sight, he will convince from the pot and climb the walls and the surrounding objects. He firmly holds on to a glass vase. And it all started out so nice. This is what my basket looked like last year. The star of my collection of variegated plants. Monstera deliciosa alba variegata. This is a young plant, a sprout from a cutting, he is 7 months old. And here is his mom. I propagated it and now I have about 8 plants in the house. The hardest part is keeping this plant actively growing all year round. Otherwise, brown spots appear on the white parts of the leaves. I can't live without Coleus. I have so many of them. I advise Coleus only to desperate growers. The plant is very demanding on lighting and is difficult to overwinter in Europe. Powdery mildew and spider mites love it. Alocasia remain my favorite plants, without which the atmosphere of the home jungle is impossible. But they are expensive and complex. I stopped collecting Alocasia at around 15 varieties when I realized that I want be able to fulfill all their requirements .. I started collecting Orchids last summer. Some Phalaenopsis bloom for me again. One of mine rotted because I didn't replant it after I bought it. I no longer do this and trust the roots only to my substrate.
