Immediately loaded implants are where the dental implants are placed on the bone and the replacing tooth is placed on the same day the implant is placement. Delayed loaded implant placement are those where the replacement tooth is placed atleast 3 months after implant placement. The purpose for waiting for 3 months is for allowing the bone to form around the implants. Once the implant is firmly embedded inside the bone or osseointegrated as it is scientifically called, the permanent crown are fixed on them. It is always safer to have delayed loaded implants to allow the implants to heal completely before placing the crowns. But in certain situations while replacing the anterior tooth, where the bone quality is good, immediate loading of the implants is possible. But the survival rates of the implants depends on how firm the implant is within the bone, it is better to have a delayed loaded implant. Many studies have shown that delayed loading of implants is much better than having immediate loading of implants. So consult your dentist to know if you are a candidate for immediate loading of implants.
