http://www.ritareys.eu Rita Reys performing The Shadow of Your Smile (Johnny Mandel), as part of a TV show she recorded for Dutch national television, accompanied by the Pim Jacobs Trio and the Lex Jasper Orchestra. The show was named after Rita's 1983 album Memories Of You, and was broadcast as a promotion for this record. Lex Jasper once told that Memories Of You is still one of his favorite albums, and that during the recordings Barbra Streisand was listening at the door of the studio to catch a glimp of Rita singing with his orchestra. It turned out she was just recording a new album herself at the same C.T.S. studio's (London), on occasion of the movie Yentl. The Shadow Of Your Smile, a.k.a. "Love Theme from The Sandpiper", was composed by Johnny Mandel in 1965, the lyrics are by Paul Francis Webster. Other well known versions of the song were recorded by Frank Sinatra (live at The Sands), Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett and Shirley Bassey. Follow on Facebook: / officialritareys
