Post # 2024-94 January 26, 2024 DrumsByLiz.com Drums By Liz on YT/IG/TT/FB A Rudimental Roll into Double Paradiddles as a Snare Drum/Drum set Exercise Thanks for tuning in to this week’s Drums By Liz lesson! Thank you for all the continued support, subs, comments, likes and shares!! I truly appreciate what all you fellow drummers and viewers do to help the algorithm push my content onward and upward!! Maybe with your help, I can get over 10K subscribers soon to help even more drummers!!! ✨🙏🏻🌟🥁💯❤️ In this week’s Drums by Liz lesson, I demonstrate and explain how to take an open rudimental roll and combine it with double paradiddles. I demonstrate and show both right and left leads. I also give you some additional ways to spice up the double paradiddles using some cymbal work and BD tagalong notes. Adding in the cymbal and BD tags really does add a nice spark to this exercise. Make sure you incorporate your non-dominant side and work on that twice as much. Focus on balancing your limbs. Try to eventually have equal balance and no weaknesses. Be patient because this takes time working on your non-dominant side. There’s also nothing in our right handed world that promotes us to be or even use our left hand. So thankfully, we have drumming to help balance this within our bodies and minds. I’ve often thought this also helps us to be more balanced physically, mentally and emotionally someway, somehow. After all these years of teaching, my experience and my intuition tells me these revelations do matter. Working with thousands of students over the last 30-40 years has opened my eyes to all of this. I do feel as if I see a different picture, especially these last 20 years of teaching. It’s morphed into something way more introspective. It’s not just get on the fast track of speed, fluidity, strength, endurance, etc. It’s more about looking at things from a different perspective. Noticing the motion, the physics of what we do, and working with it. Staying relaxed, not trying to force things out of sheer willpower. Trying to encompass a more whole body approach and work on becoming more centered more rounded out and more balanced. Always trying to work smarter rather than harder. I know I’ve also talked extensively on how I believe developing the left side opens up the right brain, our creative aspect, creative side of learning. So keep working on these things that challenge you a little more because they come back full circle in this wonderful balancing way. Think how drumming can take it to a higher level of mind, body and emotional balance. We might just end up being happier, more productive, less edgy, more centered, more likable and more loving! After all these years of teaching and playing drums, I believe in my heart and in my intuition, this is true! I can look back at my life and definitely see how all of this has been an incredible journey of discovery after discovery….after discovery!….lol Aren’t we the fortunate ones to have found this awesome instrument that gives us so much joy and incredible gifts beyond our understanding!!! Thank You Dear God!!! Please remember too, I do teach online lessons. You can be anywhere in the world and I can teach you. After all of these years, I have many success stories that you can read about on DrumsByLiz.com. Several of my students have gone on to become professional drummers themselves, traveling the world, living the dream! Whether you have those types of aspirations or you just want to learn drums for a healthy escape with so many other benefits of creativity, coordination, physicality, connecting with musicians through music, pure joy etc, I can definitely help you. I love to help students acquire the necessary skills needed so they can feel confident and comfortable in any playing situation they find themselves in, or choose to be in. I love seeing the constant progression and success it brings by implementing my “Drums By Liz” protocol with all my students. After all these years, decades of doing this, I do have great success getting students on a fast track of learning and skill development. I am incredibly thankful and truly get so much out of teaching. Every time I teach any concept, I am learning myself. I love the interaction that I have with all my students. All this time I’ve really tried to craft myself as a teacher. I constantly look for ways to solve puzzles for people and to make things more logical and easily understood. Thank you for taking the time to read these descriptions. I do try my best to give insight, keys to learning and little secrets etc. I sincerely want to help others progress and enjoy this beyond fantastic instrument! Thanks again for tuning in! Feeling very grateful and blessed especially this time of year! Happy New Year!! 🙏🏻🌟🥳🎉🥁😊❤️ As Always, Happy Drumming!😊🥁🌟💯
