Hi friends! Join me for a visit to the Hibulb Cultural Center and Natural History Preserve, located on the Tulalip Reservation, roughly 30 minutes north of Seattle. It offers exhibits and programs exploring the cultural values and history of the Tulalip Tribes. **The Welcome Figures I’ve shown on the thumbnail photo were carved by Joe Gobin and James Madison. I enjoyed seeing the exhibits, especially the handmade baskets and dolls, made from Redwood Cedar. I learned about the variety of languages spoken by the coastal Salish people and about their language school that is helping children learn their traditional language. This is a beautiful museum to visit any time of year, especially in the winter when it can be cold and rainy outside. Currently open to the public Tuesday - Friday 10:00 am -5:00 pm, and Saturday - Sunday from 12:00 noon - 5:00 pm. Here's a link to their web page which has lots of great information and resources and links to 8 teaching stories.
