In this restoration, I take a badly abused BOSCH LITHEON BRUTE 18V heavy-duty drill and bring it back from the dead. This one was in rough shape—cracked housing, missing motor rear cover (motor completely exposed), and a missing carbon brush. But instead of scrapping it, I decided to go all in and give it a second life. Full teardown: Everything came apart, including the motor. I disassembled the motor completely, replaced the bearings, and rebuilt it from the ground up. Gearbox deep clean: The gearbox was more complex than other brands I’ve restored. All gears and metal components were ultrasonically cleaned—this time using gasoline as the cleaning solvent for maximum degreasing. Sandblasting & repaint: The motor housing and aluminum parts were sandblasted to remove corrosion, then repainted for a factory-fresh finish. Plastic housing repair: Cracked housing sections were first bonded with industrial adhesive, then reinforced with hot-set staples (kintsugi-style) for structural strength that won’t fail again. Rubber grip restoration: Worn-out overmolded rubber was replaced with hand-fitted leather for a durable and tactile upgrade. Custom rear cover: The missing plastic motor cover was fabricated from ABS tubing, hand-shaped, and fitted to perfectly close off the motor compartment. Custom 18V battery build: No restoration is complete without power. I built a custom 18V battery pack using Samsung 40T 21700 cells, spot-welded with copper sandwich + nickel-plated steel for maximum current delivery and capacity. Final test: This restored brute drills effortlessly through wood. To really test it, I drilled through 8mm steel plate—and it handled it without hesitation. If you enjoy detailed restorations, custom fabrication, and seeing old tools get a serious upgrade, this one’s for you. Thanks for watching!
