Today I take a private boat from Gili Meno to Gili Air where I’m dealing with an allergic reaction from a late night Indonesian meal. My lips are swollen and I have several rashes across my body as well as raised hives causing me to be very itchy and a little uncomfortable. The following day things have improved and I take a walk around Gili Air talk with a young English women I met a couple of years ago on the island who had started a business. She has now converted to islam and married a local person on the island. I ask her about her life and any difficulties she might have experienced in transitioning from a western life to living in Indonesia. I also meet young Danish couple who are traveling the region and ask them about their life and travels. Finally I talk to a local man building a boat and we discuss the cost of building such a large craft and how long it takes. The price seems expensive but the boat builder tells me if he can attract enough tourists it isn’t a large amount at all.
