I start by explaining that I’m trading futures through a prop firm, which allows me to keep relatively little of my own capital at risk while still having strong upside potential. As the market begins moving, I identify a potential breakout area and attempt to anticipate the move. I get long on a break and initially only lock in about $60, which is frustrating as price continues higher afterward. I re-engage and manage to capitalize on additional momentum, but I openly admit the entry wasn’t an A+ setup — more of a quick scalp than a textbook trade. The market then shifts, reminding me how quickly conditions can change. I switch to the MNQ contract (a smaller version of NQ) to manage volatility and risk. After waiting for a deeper pullback, I catch a clean bounce and secure another fast scalp — this time with a very strong fill. That trade pushes me up over $1,000 on the session. Shortly after, I’m informed that the trading platform may be experiencing glitches. Rather than introduce unnecessary execution risk on top of normal market risk, I decide to call it a day while green. The session highlights fast decision-making, emotional discipline, adapting to changing conditions, and knowing when to stop — especially when external risks like platform instability come into play.
