Tonight we have a special entry, our friend, Todd Hamrick is the regional sales rep for Anderson Valley Brewing and he got me this one to try. Their Salted Caramel Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter, 9.5%er with 16 IBU's. Their website describes this porter as "slightly sweet porter is brewed with select additions of crystal malts and sea salt to create flavors of peanut brittle and caramel without being cloying." And it delivered. Popping the top you get a instant aroma of bourbon and caramel, but the bourbon mellows out after the pour. Pours dark amber, not overly boozy for high alcohol content. Mild sweetness balances out the bourbon, this is a sipper, after dinner beer, not heavy, went perfectly with the Crumbl cookies Suz picked up for me.
