1 Ton axle swap on Tacoma 2nd Gen in 20 min

Man, do we have a video for you today! In today's video we straight axle swap Scott’s 2nd Gen Toyota Tacoma. It was some long 14-hour days over the weekend to get this project back under its own weight. We started on the rear, removing the old axle. Because the rear uses leaf springs it's not too complicated. We got the data 60 swapped over and we just need to button up the little stuff like brake lines. We then moved over to the front where the ISF needs to be cut out. This is the point of no return after removing the independent front suspension steering rack and plasma cutting all the brackets out. Once all the ISF was cut out we went into the design phase. Where we start fitting the Dana 60 under the front and game plan how it will all work. We did a radius three link in the front, custom steering links, Bilstein shocks and some temporary XJ coils. We had to get adapters for the brake lines. But the biggest challenge and the most time-consuming on the front end was the steering box. Stock this truck comes with a steering rack for the independent front suspension, that doesn’t work for this new setup. We are now using a steering box out of an older Toyota. We had to mount the steering box, plate the frame the steering box is attaching to and figure out how to run the steering shaft to the new location.
