The ancient city became one of the main Etruscan ports, later passing to the ancient Greeks who called it Adria, a name that indicated daylight. Christianity arrived in the 2nd century brought by the bishop of Ravenna and became so important that the first church was raised to the status of cathedral of the new diocese. The site of the ancient castle has land on which three cathedrals stand, all still preserved as evidence of the stratigraphy of the land. d' - e' - f' sharp - g' - a' a'' flat The new 60-metre monumental bell tower was completed in 1686, built next to the entrance of the third cathedral. The construction of the new cathedral, dedicated to the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, was started in 1776 at the behest of the bishop, and the third cathedral, dedicated to St John the Baptist, was used as a ferial chapel. The temple was consecrated on 10 September 1882 by the bishop, making it one of the largest churches in the Veneto region. The bell tower was equipped in 1891 with a new concert of four bells, cast in the musical scale of D major. A fifth bell was added in 1965; one of the original bells was replaced in 2011 because it had cracked. The bell bears the coat of arms of Pope Benedict XVI. In the video there are images of the three cathedrals and a small bell, cast in 1931 and placed on top of a solitary tower. The five main bells play a melody and then ring together solemnly to signify the Sabbath at noon. I thank my organist friend from the city, who invited us for two days to these beautiful lands where I met many people who appreciate artistic and musical culture. The second cathedral was built in the 8th century within the fortified area, replacing the church built outside the walls. This church is located in the crypt and preserves parts of 9th century Carolingian frescoes, among the oldest in Europe. The third cathedral began in 1050 and was consecrated in 1184 by Pope Lucius III, who had moved to Verona. After being enlarged, it was replaced by a fourth cathedral, inside which a museum was created in 2015 to house the treasures that tell the history of this place. #bell #church #catholic #italy #bells #city #history #music #landscape #catholicchurch #cinematic #cathedral #view Music track: Documentary Cinematic Epic by Infraction [No Copyright Music] / Lifeline
