Muslims consider it a duty to visit Mecca, the birthplace of Prophet Muhammad, at least once in their lives. Lakhs of people visit Mecca for the pilgrimage. They follow strict rituals. Visiting Mecca, the holy place of worship, is only possible for those who have the financial means. The Andhra Pradesh government is encouraging Muslim brothers to visit Mecca in Saudi Arabia. It is providing financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh. Andhra Pradesh Haj Committee Chairman Haji Sheikh Hassan is touring the state on the instructions of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to prepare Muslim brothers for the pilgrimage that will begin after Ramzan. He is telling them how to make the Haj pilgrimage a success. He is reminding them of the conditions imposed by the Saudi Arabian government. He is explaining the support provided by the Andhra Pradesh government to the pilgrims going on the pilgrimage. The pilgrims are being prepared with Muslim elders in the respective districts. 2100 pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh are going for the Haj pilgrimage. He said that more than 500 of them are going to Vijayawada. He said that 1150 people left from Hyderabad and the rest left via Bengaluru. He said that he had asked Union Minister Kinja Rao Rammohan Naidu to arrange two special flights from Vijayawada for pilgrims going to Mecca. Darul Uloom Ishaqiya Maria Principal Muhammad Zafar Ali Missahi said that the rules of the Saudi government must be followed. He told how to wear Mecca dress. An awareness program was organized on Saturday under the auspices of Yasin Hajapa Welfare Society for Haj pilgrims from Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Shadikhana in Visakhapatnam, Abidnagar and Akkayyapalem.
