Route 253 is the most inaccessible route for an enthusiast to complete a full journey on, with no inbound trips operating and the nearest other bus stop being around a 15km walk away! The service operates a few times a weekday between Armadale Station or surrounding schools and the two of Jarrahdale, in southeastern fare zone 6. It also runs on service on Saturdays. I originally travelled on this route back in January prior to the introduction of the large deviation to better serve the rest of Jarrahdale. The journey there was recorded but unfortunately the file has gone corrupt and I was unable to include it in this video, which I am very annoyed at. Therefore, in this video you will only see the introduction and conclusion of the January clips, before moving onto the June clips where I drove all the way into Jarrahdale to take the new Chestnuts Estate deviation. On this occasion @justinbuster86 took the full journey of the 253 and we then went back together, so as compromise for my missing video you can see the full journey recorded from the back on his channel [ • [No Return?!] Transperth Bus Route No. 253... ], which is quite funny as I overtook the bus on its way up to Jarrahdale on the small section of Jarrahdale Road which contains an overtaking lane! Overall this is a very interesting route and its surprising that such a service even exists, but it is unlikely I will ever go on it again as it requires a really long drive to be able to do so with at least one another person coming along. UPDATE OCTOBER 2025: With the opening of the Byford Rail Extension, this route has now been renumbered to route 262 and operated from Byford Station but with the same route, although the Kingsbury Drive terminus is now an extension with the Jarrahdale General Store terminus considered the normal terminus.
