I love playing with my food. But as I stuck cocktail sticks into this marshmallow to make a cute little hedgehog, I thought of two things. Firstly, by driving sticks into the sweet, I was modifying it. That's just what our generation is doing to the earth. Secondly, in this case, my actions created a whole new fellow -- an instant hedgehog. However, there are problems with this achievement: I've destroyed the original marshmallow which will never be the same again, and my cute hedgehog is not real! He's only a make-believe hedgehog. If I want to see a real one, I've got to go outside. Now think. If people modify land everywhere you see, and if they make synthetic toys of it all, what have we really gained? A planet full of injuries and a false toy animal culture? Protect the earth's wilderness, I say. But in the meantime...
