Demonstration of Morlock Rotary Pad Print Decoration: https://itwmorlock.com/equipment-cate... This video demonstrates how an automated MPA machine applies three-color decoration to mascara bottles. The bottles pass through a vibrating bowl feeder where the mascara tubes are carefully aligned in the correct direction to be placed on the mandrels with the open end facing forward. A linear camera system provides registration and positioning, while a dual-position mandrel loading mechanism speeds production rates. An additional camera then detects mascara bottle alignment. Any bottles that are not properly aligned are corrected at a designated turnaround station. After passing through a control station to check if the part is correctly mounted on the mandrel, a pad printing head applies doublestrike decoration. A tailstock system ensures support of the part during the printing. An infrared drying system is used between colors to speed up the drying process, and a pad cleaning system in the middle station ensures the quality and repeatability of the decoration. Individual angular positioning is adjustable for each print head. After printing, the parts are transported to an inspection point where a matrix camera confirms decoration quality in all three of the printed areas. Any mascara tube that does not pass inspection is offloaded down a separate chute. The MPA system can decorate between 2,500 and 2,600 parts per hour. This system uses 10mm thick steel printing plates from Morlock. However, thin steel or plastic polymer printing plates can also be used. The machine is equipped with a closed magnetic ink cup with a ceramic or carbide lip for longer life. The adjustable magnetic force applied to the ink fountain makes it possible to save time with tool-free ink adjustments. Production efficiency is also enhanced by mounting the pad on a stop system. This ensures proper pad positioning during consumable or line changeovers.
