Here are 3 pieces which can be characterized as Soviet Dance Music. The first piece is from Boris Meisel. Boris Meisel (1907 – 1986) was a Russian composer. He was born in Saint Petersburg to a family of physicist Sergey Mayzel. He studied with Maximilian Steinberg and Pyotr Ryazanov at the Leningrad Conservatory. He graduated in 1936. Early on, he had worked on stage works. He lived in Moscow from 1944 to his death. He primarily wrote symphonies, but his works also include concertos and operas. The Blues is piece from Dance Suite on Negro Folk Topics. The second piece is from Anatoly Lepin. Anatoly Lepin ( 1907 in Moscow – 1984 in Moscow) was a Soviet composer. He graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1936, having studied composition with A. N. Aleksandrov, and went on to teach in Tashkent from 1936 to 1938 then in Kharkov from 1938 to 1939. He lived in Riga from 1945 to 1950, and during that period composed the State Anthem of the Latvian SSR. 0:00 Blues 3:50 Evening Waltz (Waltz Boston) from the movie "Carnival Night" (Lepin) 6:57 Blues (also Meisel) I like the third piece the most, and after that the second piece is really fine. I should have changed the order in the video. So If you don't have a lot time, try the last piece, it has some really nice places, especially near the end, where I could put in some ornaments too :)
