Cyber Essentials is the UK Governments Cyber Security certification scheme for UK organisations. It covers the minimum technical controls your organisation should have in place to help protect you from internet bourne cyber threats. Episode 12 covers the final Section, Section 8 and it's all about how you protect your devices from malware. Malware is often the way the cyber criminals exploit vulnerabilities within your IT Systems, so have a strong defence against that is really important! There is one key thing you need to be aware of about Administrator Accounts… Under Cyber Essentials you MUST NOT use an Administrator account for day to day activities. If you’re finding you need to login as administrator all day – something is wrong. If you're using Anti-Malware there are four key requirements under Cyber Essentials 1. It MUST update it's database AT LEAST daily 2. It MUST Scan files ON ACCESS, not just on a schedule 3. It MUST Scan WEb Pages as you Access them 4.
