Bless the Lord, O My Soul – A Contemporary Worship Mash-Up for Brass Choir This powerful brass choir arrangement, Bless the Lord, O My Soul, is a dynamic and seamless mash-up of four of today’s most beloved worship anthems: Ten Thousand Reasons, In Christ Alone, Jesus Messiah, and Mighty to Save. Commissioned with the vision of blending these modern classics into one unified worship experience, this work was a challenge to include creativity, reverence, and boldness in the brass writing. Rather than simply stringing songs together, this arrangement weaves together themes of praise, redemption, and salvation—building moments of brilliance, warmth, and triumphant declaration. I tried to include rich chorale textures to soaring fanfares and full-ensemble climaxes with both power and sensitivity. Scored for an expansive brass ensemble: • 4 Horns • 4 Trumpets • 2 Flugelhorns • 4 Trombones • Baritone Horn • Euphonium • 2 Tubas The arrangement takes full advantage of the ensemble’s color palette—lush horn harmonies, brilliant trumpet statements, warm low-brass foundations, and majestic tutti passages. The result is a stirring concert or worship centerpiece ideal for church services, sacred concerts, or festival settings. I have done numerous brass choir arrangements over the years, but I have never liked the brass audio patches in Sibelius. I did purchase NotePerformer a few years back. It only works for classical-based selections. The Brass sound is pretty good. Let me know what you think in the comments. This project was especially rewarding as it pushed creative boundaries in both arranging and sound production. I like the enhanced brass rendering; the depth and resonance of the ensemble truly come alive, capturing, I think, the grandeur and emotional scope the music deserves. For additional brass choir arrangements or commissioning inquiries, feel free to reach out. Other brass choir works are on the way. Assuming I can find the time to post them;)
