2025 SCCM Presidential Address (Jose L. Pascual, MD, PhD, FRCS(C), FACS, FCCM)

Congratulations to the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s (SCCM) 2025 President Jose L. Pascual, MD, PhD, FRCS(C), FACS, FCCM. Dr. Pascual is a professor of surgery and neurosurgery in the division of trauma, surgical critical care, and emergency surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He also carries a cross-appointment at the Penn School of Nursing, is the health system medical director for surgical critical care, and serves in a variety of other healthcare system and university roles. Dr. Pascual is a neurointensivist who runs a basic science laboratory focused on traumatic brain injury and neurocognitive recovery. Additionally, he pursues device redesign in conjunction with University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science. He discussed his gratitude for those who have helped guide him to where he is today and for all those who have helped and continue to help advance critical care practice.
