🎵 Konkoba || Full Rhythm 🎵 Konkoba (Concoba ) is a rhythm associated with farmers. They work/dance to the rhythm while working. Konkoba Doundoun is played as people travel from the fields to the village after work. The rhythm is also played in honor of powerful or wealthy farmers and is therefore known as the rhythm of strong farmers. There are some differences in interpretation in the various regions (Kouroussa, Mandiani, Faranah). Various musicians have also created their own musical interpretations. Konkoba II is a dance version, and Konkoba III is a very fast ballet version in four parts. Konkoba rhythms are played while working in the fields. It is also played in honor of wealthy or powerful farmers, and is therefore also known as the rhythm of good workers. The word means forest or jungle. (Freely based on Mamady Keita: A life for the Djembe) 'A rhythm to support the farmers' work in the fields while working with the ' Daba ' (hoe or hoe).' A young man is recognized as a Konoba because of his strength and speed with his hoe. He has many fetishes and is therefore feared. The word Konkoba refers to both a person and the rhythm. (Based on the text booklet accompanying the CD: 'Guinea: Malinke rhythms and songs (volume I)' by Famoudou Konate. 'The fields have been prepared for sowing. Konkoba has finished his work and is returning to the village. He wears a decorated headdress of antelope horn and a hide decorated with bells and mirrors. Around his waist he wears a belt with dangling Kaori shells that jingle with every step he takes. These decorations have protected him and given him strength to complete his difficult and arduous tasks. Konkoba is also the name of the rhythm that invites those returning home and other villagers to dance.' (Based on the text in the booklet accompanying the CD Hamana Foli Kan by Famoudou Konate.)
