💡 Quick Real Estate Fact for California Landlords & Renters Did you know that starting January 1, 2026, California landlords will be legally required to provide a working stove AND refrigerator in most rental homes and apartments? This comes from Assembly Bill 628 (AB 628) and it expands the state’s “habitability” standards. This means appliances will now be treated like heat, water, and plumbing — basic necessities. 📌 Most Other States Don’t Do This In many other states, landlords are not required to supply kitchen appliances. They only have to maintain them if they choose to provide them, but are not required to include them in the first place. So California is now one of the strictest states in the country when it comes to appliance requirements in rental housing. 👀 If you own rentals in California, budget for this. 👀 If you’re a renter, you’ll benefit from this change.
