Back again at the "darndest place" we've ever visited! Join us in feeding the ostrich, donkeys, lorikeets, goats, & more at Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch (@ostricht2003)! Just off of Interstate 10, about half-way between Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona, is the "darndest place you'll ever visit!" Featured in TV shows such as "Larry the Cable Guy – Only in America” & “Extreme Roadside Attractions," this quirky "petting zoo" is unlike anything you've experienced before. Always a favorite of ours - we've made our way back to see what's new at this Southern Arizona gem of an attraction. Nestled in the shadows of Picacho Peak, 100s of ostrich and other critters call this Ranch "home." The experience starts at $12 for "most of the fun" or $15 for "all of the fun," which includes food to feed the stingrays. For $12 you get to feed everything but the stingrays, and it's typically what we choose to do. You start with a cup full of green pellets to feed the Donkeys in Donkeytown USA. After enjoying the odd nature of the gentle horse-like animals, you make your way over to feed the parakeets at Parakeet Perch USA. You take a stick covered in seed (provided) and insert it into the cage. Parakeets then swarm the food, take their fill, and fly away. Following the parakeets, you make your way over to visit the deer (if they're not sleeping). After the deer, you make your way over to feed the Boer Goats of the Goat Penthouse - a scissor lift platform full of goats (they love high places). You insert food into a ball mounted to a belt and send the food up to the goats via a hand crank. A unique and entertaining experience! Not entertaining enough? How about taking a piece of food and treating a boer goat at the Goat Kissing Booth? Again, this place is quirky and fun, where else are you going to experience something like this? Following the goats is the main attraction - the field of hungry Ostrich eagerly and clumsily awaiting your food! Intimidating and eccentric, the Ostrich are always an experience to be remembered. Following the ostrich exhibit, you make your way over to feed sheep, Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Bunnies, Ducks & finally - the Lorikeets! One of our favorite exhibits, the lorikeet experience is unlike anything else. These birds, reminiscent of parrots, are not shy. As you enter the aviary, they sometimes swarm you if you happen to be carrying the supplied nectar cup in your hand. They take the lid off, and enjoy the nectar, as you enjoy their company! This trip was the most we've ever been "swarmed" and it was such a great experience. On your way back to the gift shop (to exit) or to feed the stingrays (if you paid the extra $3), be sure to first stop at the relatively new "Tortoise Village," home to a dozen or so African Spurred Tortoise! Hope you all enjoyed the video! Stay tuned for more content (Gem Show is right around the corner!)
