Kalyan Dombivli 27 Villages Issue | 27 गावांचा प्रश्न पुन्हा ऐरणीवर, वेगळी नगरपालिका मिळणार?

KALYAN: In view of scarcity of water in 27 villages of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation for the last one year, the state government has decided to increase the water supply by 30 MLD in this area, taking the daily total water supply to 90 MLD. The decision will benifit atleast 5 lakh people residing in 27 villages of KDMC who are facing water shortage due to low pressure and insufficient water supply. To resolve water scarcity issue, Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Dr Shrikant Shinde on Friday held a meeting with state industries minister Uday Samant in Mumbai along with KDMC Commissioner Dr Bhausaheb Danagade and other senior officials of MIDC during which Samant instructed MIDC officials to increase the water supply by 30 MLD to provide high pressure of water. Shinde said "During the meeting, we brought to the notice of the industries minister Uday Samant that MIDC was expected to provide 105 MLD of water to the 27 villages, but only 60 MLD of water was being received on which Samant instructed MIDC officials to provide 90 MLD of water by increasing additional supply by 30 MLD". The people of these villages are hardly getting sufficient water supply due to low pressure from tap and for their daily needs they are dependent on water tankers. The water scarcity of these villages recently got attention of government agencies after 5 members of a Gaikwad family drowned in a water-filled quarry while cleaning clothes in Sandap village. On Friday, even some women held protests outside KDMC's ward office in Kalyan East demanding adequate water supply.
