Why do people with Anorexia fail to perceive the severity of their illness? According to the Adapted to Flee Famine Hypothesis, this occurrence would have facilitated survival in times of famine. The AFFH proposes Anorexia to be the result of three core adaptations: restriction, hyperactivity, and denial of starvation. In part 4 and 5 of this 7-part series, we unpacked restriction and hyperactivity. In this 6th part, we're going to be looking specifically at denial of illness, including delusional body image. You'll learn: How delusional body image can be seen as an adaptive mechanism The role of interoception in Anorexia The role of interoception in Autism How neuroendocrine mechanisms contribute to denial of illness Opioid levels in Anorexic individuals How historical accounts of Anorexia support the Adapted to Flee Famine Hypothesis Connect with Livia: ♥️ SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/c/livlabelfre... 🍩 INSTAGRAM: / livlabelfree 🌐 WEBSITE: https://livlabelfree.com/ 📚 BOOKS: https://livlabelfreebooks.com 💗 Join my newsletter to receive episode updates: https://livlabelfree.com/join 🫶 Schedule a consultation call for 1-1 coaching: https://livlabelfree.com/schedule 🍩 Enroll in my course, Extremely Hungry to Completely Satisfied: https://www.livlabelfree.com/course 📝 Blog post of this episode (including sources): https://livlabelfree.com/blog/anorexi...
