After being blindfolded by the organisers, visitors were led to the Yu Yuen villa, built in 1927 in Hong Kong’s rural Yuen Long district. The village has been a backdrop in many Hong Kong films including Rouge (1987), starring Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui. It was left abandoned for decades until UK-born interior designer Sacha Yasumoto got permission from the owners to host a dinner there. Yasumoto says her initiative, “Dangerous Dinners”, aims to raise awareness of local history and to promote conservation.
