7robotics engineers designed and programmed this Robotic Stall Grading System and set it up for testing at our Roseburg, Oregon facility (as seen in this video). This automated system will be used to handle and sort plywood panels in our customer's grading cell at their facility in Eugene, Oregon. With the help of the robot, the operator will inspect each panel and decide whether it should be placed into an On Grade or Off Grade pile. If the operator decides on an Off Grade, the robot will first present the panel to an ink-marking system (indicating a downgraded panel), then place the panel on the bunk for stacking. Once the robot places the On Graded or Off Graded panels into their designated piles on one of two bunks, the unit bunk system will square the unit so it’s ready to be picked up by a forklift. The robot will also place bottom boards, slip sheets, and top covers based on the customer’s packaging specifications. The repetitive, strenuous, and monotonous movements completed by the robot ensures production levels remain high, facilities remain safe, and more workers remain free to do other important tasks.
