🔎 DESTINATION: Toorale National Park ❓❓WHY: To explore the history of one of Australia's historic sheep stations which is now spectacular Toorale National Park. It was controversially bought by the Federal and NSW Governments in 2008, to return water allocations to the Murray Darling River systems for the environment. 🚙ROADS: You will need a 4WD for this adventure - 99 per cent of the roads out and within the park are unsealed and can become impassable after rain. Darling River Drive was closed due to flooding on the day of our visit. 📍 LOCATION: Toorale is 80km southwest of Bourke. Bourke is 800km north west of Sydney. 📜MAP: From the Tourist Information Centre, of NSWNPWS office at Bourke. 📅WHEN: We visited in autumn, cool mornings, warm days, clear blue skies. Summer out there is very hot (as high as 48 degrees) so you wpould need to be well prepared. ⌚TIME SPENT: Allow a full day to reach and explore the park. We'll be taking a second trip out there at some stage to see all the things we missed. 🍎🥙🍪💧 FOOD: You will need to take all your own food and water.
