I prefer using the elbow of the lens loop to apply gentle pressure on the inferior lens equator at one focused point. At the same time, a 12 o’clock 0.12 forceps or a lens loop supports the superior wound lip, giving counter-pressure exactly where and when it is required. This is what I teach my residents as the 1–2–plop technique. 1. Apply gentle inferior pressure using the elbow of the loop. 2. Provide supportive counter-pressure at the superior wound lip. Then…the plop. The nucleus slides out almost effortlessly when those two forces are balanced perfectly. One point of push. One point of support. Controlled nucleus delivery with minimal trauma.
