http://dngr.us/xac - This videos covers how to use the xAC v2 access controller with a garage door opener. The garage door opening system shown in this video is a Chaimberlin LiftMaster Professional. The advantage of this kind of garage door opening system is that the internal button simply requires a direct short of the two conductors (wires) that lead to the button in order to actuate the door. Adding RFID authentication with the xAC v2 controller is as easy as tying the onboard relay switched pins directly to the wires going to the button. In this video, I show how to wire the xAC v2 directly to the actual button, but enterprising installers could just as easily wire the relay pins on the xAC v2 directly to the main control box in parallel with the button. There are several advantages to the xAC v2 over v1, including the ability to activate an on-board relay for a small 1 second interval. This is actually a vast improvement over v1 which only had an active output for as long as an authorized RFID chip was being held over the antenna. Because the garage door control system only checks a couple times per second to see if the garage door button is being pressed, a momentary "swipe" of a chip past the antenna would often result in a missed check, and the door not opening. With the v2 controller, a very quick swipe will always result in a solid 1 second "button press" which the garage door controller will always detect and actuate the door.
