For Project 2 we will use the SRK and Peng-Robinson equations of state to compute the enthalpy of mixing (or excess enthalpy) of binary mixtures. We will compare our results to freely available data from DDBST (http://www.ddbst.com/free-data.html) to understand the sensitivity of the results on the value of kij used, and also to identify limitations of using a simple mixing rule with our equations of state. Additionally, using the optimal kij found from fitting the reference data at atmospheric pressure, we will use the Peng-Robinson equation of state to make predictions at 10, 50 and 100 bar to understand the pressure dependence of the enthalpy of mixing. Often we will assume the excess enthalpy, entropy, and Gibbs free energy of condensed phases is negligible. This will give us a better idea of the range of applicability of this assumption. The necessary MATLAB files are provided below, which should also work with GNU Octave (although I have not tested it). https://drive.google.com/file/d/163G-... https://drive.google.com/file/d/14PWT... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tlw6... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ysvX... https://drive.google.com/file/d/16_Jv... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1n1AB... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SmtA... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/c/AndrewPaluc...
