Khawar Musafir : / @khawar.musafir Today, our journey moves towards Shogran, one of the most beautiful valleys of Kaghan. We didn’t refill the petrol because we already had enough. On the way, we stopped at Mian Jee Hotel for a light breakfast and then continued towards Balakot — a beautiful city that was destroyed in the 2005 earthquake but now stands strong again. From Balakot, we rode towards Kiwai Waterfall, but instead of staying there, we went straight up to Shogran — about 8 km uphill from Kiwai. The road is steep but fully paved. In Shogran, we stayed at Eagle Nest Hotel, arranged by Faisal Bhai, who also runs jeeps and helps tourists with bookings (his number is shown on the screen). After a short stay, we started our ride towards Siri Paye Meadows. The road is tough, narrow, and muddy — especially if it rains. I remember in 2023, I came here with my brother Khawar, but due to rain and a small incident, we had to turn back. This time, by Allah’s blessing, we finally made it to the top! Siri Paye was unbelievably beautiful — pure greenery, local houses, and silence all around. A local girl guided us, telling us we could take our bike all the way through the horse trail. Carefully, we made it to Paye Meadows, and trust me, it was heaven on earth! A small natural rainwater lake was there, with animals grazing and Makra Peak standing tall behind the clouds — sometimes visible, sometimes gone. Makra Peak divides KPK and Kashmir, and if you come from Muzaffarabad side, you’ll see it from another angle — equally stunning but a bit more forested. We stayed there for around two hours, had tea and fries back at the jeep point, and then returned to Shogran. The evening was peaceful — we spent some time at Pine Park near the Governor House, had dinner at Khyber Continental Hotel, and ended our day there. It was one of those rides where every turn, every cloud, and every view makes you thank Allah for creating such beauty.
