This video is a tribute to celebrate the life and contribution of late Miangul Adnan Aurangzeb. Prince Adnan was head of the former princely family of Swat and a well-known social and cultural leader in Pakistan. Also, he was a former Member of Parliament. Prince Adnan met a road accident and passed away on May 30, 2022. He was driving home after giving a talk on the cultural heritage of Swat at an international conference in Mansehra, Pakistan. Late Miangul Adnan Aurangzeb was a patron of the Silk Road Centre (https://silkroadcentre.org/) , a nonprofit educational and cultural organization working to promote cultural diversity and cross-cultural connections for peace and progress. The Centre engages in intellectual, cultural and people-to-people exchange to support culture, heritage and education for development. As our patron, Miangul Adnan encouraged and ensured his presence at every activity and event organized by the Centre. As a member of Silk Road Centre’s Advisory Council and Conference Core Committee, Miangul Adnan played a vital role in organizing the International Conference and Art Festival on “Buddhism in Pakistan: History, Archaeology, Art and Architecture” (https://buddhisminpakistan.org/) held in Islamabad from March 14-15, 2022. The President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi inaugurated the event, which was attended by ministers, diplomats, local and international scholars, interfaith leaders, artists, students and a large number of people. Miangul Adnan delivered an engaging keynote address at the conference inaugural. In his capacity as the Chair of the Partnerships and Outreach Committee, he supported the international conference in a number of ways. He led the committee to meet federal ministers, parliamentarians and diplomats. He hosted and personally conducted a post-conference delegation of over 40 members, including 18 foreign delegates visiting Swat. A 10-member all women group of Buddhist nuns and devotees led by Venerable Jue Cheng was also part of the delegation. The distinguished visitors also included Venerable Zong Ping and members of the Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia. We will always remember Miangul Adnan. His passing is a great loss for Pakistan but we vow to continue his legacy of forging cultural ties and promoting cultural heritage of the country. The attached short video: “Swat is filled with your fragrance everywhere” is our humble but heartfelt tribute to celebrate the life of Miangul Adnan Aurangzeb.
