The One Ring by WETA Workshop and Jens Hansen Studios. Probably my favourite purchase to-date. Tungsten Carbide Ring with an 18CT Gold Plated surface (I mistakenly kept saying it was 24CT). I was going to go with my usual, fun 3-minute intro-video, but as I was pushing the 20-minute mark, I figured everyone would just want to get to the nice meat and taters of the project. The Lord of the Rings is a very personal, almost sacred, part of my world, and has been for over 25 years. It was one of the very first novels I had ever read, and I continue to read it annually. Even tried to make the nickname "Pippin" stick once upon a time....it didn't. Hahaha! Bullet-Point Summary after 2 weeks of ownership and wear: -Tungsten Carbide, 18CT Gold Plated (I kept saying it was 24CT...sorry!) -Comes in size of your choosing -Very hefty -Very chunky, especially up against the surrounding fingers -Very comfortable on the finger that wears it -While I did put it through 2 weeks of a rigorous "daily wear" test, Jens Hansen studios states: "...with reasonable wear and tear the gold finish should retain its lustre for at least 2 years, but it is not scratchproof." My tests seem to confirm this, although I was surprised that there were no micro-scratches from the chain rubbing against it over and over. -The chain is lovely and has yet to show signs of tarnish or patina -The chain IS in fact large enough to slip over your head without unclasping -The Elven S-Shaped clasp, while pretty, tends to poke the back of the neck -Comes with a beautiful wooden box with an inner lining of blue-velvet -The Box is covered in engravings of branding, as well as the Black Speech -$99USD for the Ring (box included) and another $99USD for the chain (plus shipping) makes it well-worth the buy and is very easily the best prop-replica bargain I have yet to see on the market. I'm eventually looking to get the Solid 22CT Blank "Jens Hansen Movie Ring" version to have the most Authentic replica, but that's around $3200USD...so....hey....Jens Hansen Studios...if you would like to sponsor a video...I'd love that ring! (hint, hint) I LOVE this thing. One might say it is precious to me.
