If you are riding the Etape du Tour 2025 the Montee de Bisanne is a superb climb whilst you are staying in the Albertiville area. It first featured in the Tour de France in 2016 Stage 19 from Albertville to St Gervais le Bettex. A tough climb I wouldn't recommend it as an Etape du Tour 2025 warm up climb , however you should stick it on your list for climbs to do whilst in the area. The Montee de Bisanne was a newcomer to the Tour de France 2016 on stage 19 from Albertville to St Gervais Le Bettex on which Romain Bardet took the stage win. The cycling climb again featured in the 2018 Tour de France stage 11 Albertville to La Rosiere, which Geraint Thomas won the stage and moved into the yellow jersey. The Montee de Bisanne also featured in the 2020 Criterium du Dauphine. At the summit there is the option to continue climbing across to the Col des Saisies and the ski village of Saisies which is the route the Criterium du Dauphine and the Tour de France would take. If you have the time and the power in your legs you can continue to the Signal de Bisanne a further 2kms to 1931M. The summit of the Signal de Bisanne offers one of the most spectacular 360 degree views of the Alps and on a clear day you can see the West face of Mont Blanc, the Cormet de Roseland, Col de Pres, Col de L'Iseran, the glaciers of La Grave close to the Col de la Galibier and down the valley towards Annecy and the Col des Aravis. Today we start our ride from Villard -sur-Doron close to the larger village of Beaufort and the home of Reblochon Cheese. The Montee de Bisanne is classified a Horse Catergory climb in the Tour de France. The climb is 12.4km at 8.2% average with ramps to 13%. Its a 1018M limb to the summit and if you continue to the Signal de Bisanne its a further 2kms taking you to 1931M. The climb can easily be included in a loop ride with the Col de Saisies, Col de Pres and maybe the Col de la Forclaz de Montmin.
