In this video, we explore the science behind hydroponics and why it matters for modern farming. We begin by exploring the traditional approach to farming, where plants obtain their nutrition from the soil they grow in. However, this approach can be challenging, as soil quality can vary greatly, and water quality can also impact plant growth. Additionally, cultivating the same type of crop repeatedly can deplete the soil's nutrients, leading to a decline in crop quality and yield. This is where hydroponics farming comes in. Hydroponics is a farming method that uses water as a source of nutrition for plants. The word "hydroponic" comes from ancient Greek, with "hydro" meaning "water" and "ponos" meaning "labor". Further, the video dives into the science behind this approach, discussing how water can be enriched with nutrients to support plant growth, and how this method offers greater control over crop nutrition and water use. We then highlight the many benefits of hydroponics, including faster growth rates, higher crop yields, and reduced water usage. We also discuss some of the different hydroponic techniques, such as nutrient film technique, deep water culture, and dutch bucket, and explain how these approaches work and what their advantages are. The video further takes the example of eeki and shows you how to illustrate hydroponics in action, and how we use a combination of techniques to grow a variety of crops sustainably. We discuss how our farms are able to use water more efficiently, by automating all our irrigation cycles which have enabled us to save more than 80% of water as compared to traditional farming practices. Overall, this video dives into the benefits of soilless farming, and how it can be an innovative approach to solve the problems of traditional farming. 0:00 Intro 0:09 Check out who is responsible for providing nutrition to the plants 0:27 Discover why soil nutrition depletion occurs. 2:02 Revolutionising farming with soilless techniques. 2:39 Understand how roots absorb nutrition in water 3:35 Dive into the fascinating world of hydroponic techniques. 4:28 Experience closer look with the example of eeki 5:03 Outro Why choose eeki? ✔ Innovated a sustainable farming technology that enables us to utilise barren land in the most productive manner, allowing the farm partners to earn lucrative tax-free income. ✔ Developed our patented growing chambers that creates an ideal growing environment for the plant’s root zone, without using any growing media like soil or coco-peat, enabling the low-cost production of pesticide-free vegetables. ✔ Unlike other modern farming practices like vertical farming and NFT, we’ve developed crop-specific nutrition recipes that produce highly nutritious as well as tasty vegetables. ✔ Built IoT control mechanisms that allow us to remotely manage all the farm vitals, thereby reducing reliance on manual labour.
