In this performance, the earthy resonance of the djembe is slowly transformed by the Eventide Space, which expands its natural tone into a deep, gravity-less reverb. The result is a rhythmic voyage where organic percussion dissolves into a cosmic ambiance. The electronic counterpart comes from the Ciat-Lonbarde Cocoquantus 2, running a patch inspired by a fantastic guide by @ieat3141592 (I highly recommend checking out his channel). I made a few tweaks to bring out more unpredictability and character from Coco's dual delays, letting the machine lean into a free jazz-inspired texture—chaotic, playful, and constantly shifting. The performance moves through several rhythmic ideas from around the world, exploring the full dynamic range of the djembe, while using the LP Cricket as a transitional element that adds curious, acoustic punctuation to the overall atmosphere.
