RACE REPORT: D36 Rnd-15, Bear Mountain Hare Scramble. A-Senior, P3 2018 KTM 450 XC-F (The sound is crappy. Mic is F-ed up on my GoPro. The auto closed captions came out saying some weird 💩 too 🤣). What a way to cap off a wild week of flying and driving all over the west coast to buy a new van and get home with 1 1/2 days to get the van and bike ready to race!!! Big thank you to AMA District 36 and Polka Dots Motorcycle Club for putting on a great event with an awesome course!!! Marisol and I got up to the race late Sat. night and only got 3 - 4 hours of sleep. Had a super rushed morning getting prepped with everything being disorganized in our new rig. (Thanks for handling breakfast and race start countdown announcements babe!). Race Conditions were epic! Prime moist dirt, temp in the mid 40's, and a light to heavy fog. I'm rusty AF, and for me this race was really just to warm up and see where I'm at in preparation of getting back into race condition, mentally and physically, in for 2026. Made it to the start line (Row 4) about 30 seconds before the pro line took off. Was a small race. Only 6 of us in A Senior on row 4. Didnt get a great start, and didnt have my good double pane Flow Vision goggles with me, so I ended up having to ditch my fogged up goggles 7 - 10 minutes into the race. I was riding super stiff and kinda sloppy. But picked up the pace after ditching my goggles. Was in 2nd by the end of lap one. I pitted to get better goggles, but my pit box got moved and I couldn't find it, so I headed back out for the rest of the race with no goggles after wasting 15 seconds. Was feeling better, but got too excitable and lowsided coming out of a turn. Mellow crash, but the bike smashed my thumb pretty bad somehow. It wasnt broken though, so I got back to racing and told myself the wet feeling might not even be blood 😉. Had a decent remainder of the 2nd lap. Felt pretty damn good on the 3rd lap, although I got a flat rear (could still race because I'm running #Tubliss!!!), and then I had a weird slow speed high side that twisted my bars up a bit. Still in 2nd. Was loosening up and feeling surprisingly good on lap 4. But hit a rock I didn't see coming out of a turn and CRASHED HARD. Bars and controls were all twisted up. Had to stop a couple times to get the bike rideable. Gave up 2nd place. Bike was still twisted up on lap 5 and it was hard to hold on with my left thumb throbbing. Had an okay slower lap, with one smaller crash in some rocks, but managed to hold onto 3rd till the end of the race. TAKE AWAYS: All in all, I'm happy with how I felt. I just need more time on the bike to clean up my technique a bit. And I've still gotta get used to pushing the bike and myself as hard as I need to in order to be competitive with the A guys, but still keep things smooth and consistent. No more of this 4 crashes in a race BS 🤣. I expect to grow a lot as a rider next season, and I'm looking forward to it!!! Goal is to be competitive for podium finishes. (While I finished 3rd this weekend, I don't consider it a legit podium, as there were only 6 guys on my row, so it wasn't even a trophy finish). Marisol and I also had a great time hanging out with Brian and Nick talking about the 2026 season and being part of the Moon Racing Team.... more on that later!!! #MoonRacing #RidgeRunnersMC. #RRMC #District36 #BearMountainHareScramble Motul USA Motul IRC TIRE USA Nuetech Flow Vision Company ODI Grips @mojomotosport @Santa Cruz Suspension
