The tennis ball peanut still works extremely well for mobilizing the thoracic spine and releasing the paraspinals. In this video I am using two baseballs taped together with electrical tape. As I mentioned in the video my spine is going to rest in between the two balls. The harder the balls are that are used to make the peanut, the more sensitive your paraspinals might be as you lay on the balls, as you’ll notice any tender areas almost immediately. I think if you really want to see results with drills like this, expect to work this drill multiple times per day for 5 minutes (at least per session). Don’t kill yourself but really get after it, versus doing 5 reps and calling it a day. The more consistent you are with it, the more significant the results will be. I typically follow up a drill like this with some spinal waves or laying thoracic rotation drills. The spine needs mobility on multiple planes just like any other joint. Cheers.
