The Crown of Glory: What Is Your Treasure This Lent?

Are you living for a crown that fades… or one that lasts forever? “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21) In this powerful Lenten reflection, we examine what truly captures our attention — the Super Bowl, worldly success, comfort — or the incorruptible crown promised by Christ. Drawing from the lives of St. Maximilian Kolbe and Elder Ephraim of Arizona, this homily challenges Catholic men to ask: What is my treasure? What kind of crown am I striving for? Do I desire purity, martyrdom, apostolic zeal — or earthly recognition? Am I running my race to win? St. Paul tells us: “They do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.” (1 Corinthians 9:25) The saints rushed toward suffering with joy because they believed in the crown awaiting them.
