I Wanna Be Your Butterfree-Live at Lake Powell // The Birdwatchers Original Song Please show your support and love by subscribing to our Patreon account: / thebirdwatchers Hello everyone! Kim here. :) This is the first song that we ever wrote together as a band. #storytime But wait! Before that, please, if you love us (and even if you don't) then head to our Instagram or Facebook pages and follow us there! We are always posting when we perform. Okay hashtag story time for real. A few years back, I broke up with a girl that I really loved. As one often does with these kinds of things, I moped around for a good long while afterwards. During one particular #mopesesh, when all of my friends were out of town, I sat on the #luvsac in my basement and watched every episode of Pokémon that was on Netflix, because it was nostalgic and made me feel better. For three whole days, I did nothing (and I mean absolutely nothing else except to pee and eat milk duds) but watch Pokémon to finish what was on Netflix. One of the iconic Pokémon episodes of the first generation is called "Bye Bye Butterfree" and is the story of how the main character (Ash) has to let go of his beloved Butterfree, evolved from his first ever caught Pokémon, Caterpie, so that Butterfree can find a m8 and start his own lil Pokémon family. I, being recently single, sobbed. It was beautiful, it was sweet, and it was even a little bit romantic. I texted the boys, and we got to work. This song has lots of references to Pokémon in general (you're just my "type", a "whirlwind" of love, etc.), as well as some episode specific references. This is a song about struggle, and heartache, and finding new love when old love is gone. #muchlove, Kim and The Birdwatchers WE ARE ON ITUNES AND SPOTIFY NOW!
