Why Are Green-cheek Conures So Popular?

My avian veterinarian said that Green-cheeked Conures have become one of the most common parrots she sees in her practice. Why is this? Green-cheeked Conures have many things working in their favor. They are ideal when it comes to size and sound, for a parrot. Compared to the price and sound level, a Green-cheek Conure (GCC) can’t be beat. While there are a few parrots that would be quieter, they will either be smaller, like a budgie or Parrotlet, or they will be more expensive. The size of a GCC is wonderful. They are usually classified as a small parrot, but they are big enough for you to feel their weight when they land on your shoulder. They are small enough to not have a bite that can cause too much damage and they can easily enjoy flying around an apartment without feeling that their flying space is too limited. Being a ‘small’ conure, they are easy to care for as well.
