“Ejë-bajowdowat” where they portage (carry the canoe over land) a presentation on Bodwéwadmi peoples in the Kalamazoo/Portage area from contact to contemporary. Presented by Rebecca Rupe, Archives/Collections Coordinator for the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians (Gun Lake Tribe). She began her career with the Gun Lake Tribe in the Spring of 2021 and has assisted in establishing the Tribal Archives & Collections, Programming, Digital Archives Website, Community & Collaboration Outreach and Exhibition including Kalamazoo Nature Center’s Roots of Wisdom Exhibition. She has her B.A in Travel/Tourism and Anthropology from Western Michigan University. She is the Chair of the Native American Advisory Committee for the Field Museum, a member on the Eshtoojik Committee for the Grand Rapids Public Museum, a member on the Advisory Committee for the Straits State Park Gchi Mshiikenh Deh Minising, and active in her community for reclaimation and revitalization of traditional lifeways and history.
