When we started this channel back at the beginning of lockdown, the snowdrops were still in force. Their place has been taken by myriads of cyclamen, and it seems only fair to acknowledge their effort. The music is by the blind eighteenth-century English organist John Stanley, whose music never fails to delight: an under-sung hero, perhaps. According to the most recent report on the Minchinhampton organ, there is some eighteenth-century pipework in amongst the later Victorian sounds. Let's hope he'd be pleased with this. Like most of his Voluntaries, there are two movements: a slow introduction followed by an allegro. We haven't quite got the cornet stop that he asks for, but the swell mixture will have to do. By the way, it'll be the final music for this coming Sunday's service (13 September, 2020). Thanks for watching, and thanks to the rookie cameraman Henry for his contribution.
